Medical Relief Trust is a non-profit registered charitable Trust since 1967 constantly serving the poor and needy people by providing medical treatment who cannot afford expensive treatment. In the year 2000, the secretary of the Trust Mrs. Soma Sinha encountered with many cancer patients on the footpath outside Tata Memorial Hospital, Parel, Mumbai. She witnessed the plight of cancer patients and their attendants coming from outside Mumbai for treatment, running frantically to find accommodation within their budget. Without any thought she gave shelter to two cancer families in the year 2000, which was fully supported by her family.

Presently, the Trust accommodates 25 cancer patients and their families at her own residence. Patients who cannot afford approach us for shelter which we never refuse and are provided with all logistic support to carry forward their treatment. Patients from all over the country have been availing this facility and till date, a large number of cancer patients have been accommodated so far. The shelter home is located in a prime area and is well connected with public transport.
Medical Relief Trust is an organisation which has been working exclusively for the care of cancer patients. From providing accommodation to the process of registration in the hospitals to undergoing the process of meeting respective doctors and procuring treatment, to acquiring blood in case of operation to getting financial assistance are various facts through which a patient needs to go through.
